A hundred cups instead of a handful
The number matters more than it sounds. Most suction mats put a dozen or so cups around the edges, which means each one carries a lot of load and the middle of the mat lifts as soon as you shift your weight. Perforated so nothing pools
Holes run across the whole surface in mixed sizes, so water passes straight through to the tray and down the waste instead of sitting in a film underneath the mat. That film is where the black rim on a shower mat starts, so drainage is really a cleanliness feature as much as a drying one. Will the suction cups hold on my tray?
They need a smooth, non-porous surface — standard acrylic and stone resin trays are ideal. They won't grip a textured anti-slip tray or a tiled wet room floor with grout lines. Wet the cups first and press the mat down from the centre outwards.
Will 53 cm cover my shower?
It suits most 760 and 800 mm square trays with a margin at the edges. Measure the flat base of your tray rather than the outside of the enclosure, since the upstand at the edges isn't usable space.
