Where the water actually goes
The polyester face takes water off your feet immediately, but it doesn't keep it — the diatomaceous layer beneath draws it down and spreads it across a wide surface, where it evaporates into the room instead of pooling. That is the difference between a mat that feels dry again in a minute and a towel mat that stays damp all day. It's a soft flexible layer rather than a rigid stone slab, so you get the drying behaviour of a stone mat without the hardness underfoot or the risk of cracking it. Grip on both faces
The base is rubber with a fine woven texture that holds tile. The top has grip of its own — the raised arc pattern is frosted rather than smooth, so wet soles catch on it instead of sliding across. Most mats only solve half of this, which is why a mat can stay put while your foot still skates on it. Cleaning is a rinse under the shower or a wipe with soapy water; there's no pile to launder. Can it go in the washing machine?
No. This one is wipe clean or rinse under running water — the layered core and rubber base aren't made for a wash cycle. Stand it on edge afterwards so both faces dry.
Does the cream colour mark easily?
The surface is sealed rather than absorbent fabric, so marks sit on top and wipe off instead of soaking in. Wipe it down weekly with soapy water and it stays clean.
