Why cotton is worth paying for

Does it have a non-slip backing?
The supplier does not specify one, so we will not claim it. It is a tufted cotton mat, and like any cotton mat it will sit best on a clean, dry floor. On very smooth tile, a thin non-slip rug underlay underneath solves it completely — and has the advantage of coming out for washing while the mat goes in the machine.
How should I wash it?
Machine wash at 40°C with like colours, no fabric softener — softener coats cotton fibres and reduces how much water they can hold. Tumble dry on low or line dry; a quick shake once it is dry lifts the pile back up.
