Washing your feet without bending down
Reaching your feet in the shower is awkward at the best of times, and genuinely difficult if you have a bad back, stiff hips or a pregnancy in the way. A bristled mat does the work instead: put it down, stand on it, and move your foot back and forth. The bristles get between the toes and round the heel, which is exactly where a flannel never reaches.
Getting the suction cups to hold
Suction only works on a smooth, clean, wet surface. Rinse the tray so there is no shower gel film, wet both the tray and the underside of the mat, then press down firmly from the middle outwards until the cups bite. If they will not hold, the tray almost certainly has a textured or anti-slip finish moulded in — that is the surface, not the mat. Lift it out and hang it after each use and the suction stays strong.

Are the bristles harsh?
No. They are soft and flexible — closer to a nail brush than a pumice — so they exfoliate gently rather than scratching. Press harder for more, ease off for less; you control it with your own weight.
How do I keep it clean?
Rinse it under the shower after use and hang it up so both sides dry. Soap residue sitting in the bristles is what makes any scrubber go slimy, and a mat that dries out properly between uses does not.
