Grip on both faces
The slats are ridged rather than smooth, so a wet sole catches on them instead of sliding across. Underneath, TPE strips run the length of the mat and bond to the tray by friction rather than suction — which matters, because suction cups need a perfectly smooth surface and simply don't work on a textured tray or a tiled wet room floor. Six millimetres, and warmer than the floor
Thin enough that there's no lip to catch a toe on and no trip hazard at the edge, but the slats still lift you clear of the tile — and that gap of air is what stops the floor pulling heat out of your feet. It also means the mat itself dries from both sides between showers rather than sitting damp against the tray. Will it work in a wet room or on a textured tray?
Yes. The grip strips work by friction, not suction, so unlike a suction-cup mat this one holds on textured acrylic, stone resin and tiled floors with grout lines.
Does it need cleaning often?
Far less than a solid mat. Nothing pools underneath it, so there's no trapped film of water for mould to start in — a rinse under the shower and hanging it up is usually enough.
