victorian-tiles-bath-mat
Victorian tiles bath mat

A rust bath mat printed with Victorian encaustic tiles

Sixteen tile panels set on the diagonal — rosettes, fleurs-de-lys and quatrefoils in rust, ochre, forest green and cream — inside a chequered border, on a deep brown ground. It is the floor of a Victorian hallway reproduced on something you can roll up and wipe clean. At 80 or 100 cm square it covers enough floor to look like proper tiling rather than a mat that wandered in.

Features

Sizes

80 x 80 cm and 100 x 100 cm (31.5 x 31.5 in and 39.4 x 39.4 in)

Shape

Square

Material

PVC leather — a coated synthetic, not real leather

Colours

Rust, ochre, green and cream on brown

Design

Victorian encaustic tile print with a chequered border

Surface

Wipe clean, stain resistant

Backing

Non-slip

Durability

Built for daily use, does not fray or shed

Period pattern without period upkeep

Real encaustic tiles are beautiful, expensive and a commitment. This gives you the same geometry and the same warm earth palette on something you can put down in a rented flat and take with you. The rust and ochre pick up wooden floors, brass taps and dark painted joinery, and the pattern is busy enough to hide the daily marks that show instantly on a plain mat.

Wipe it, do not wash it

There are no fibres here to hold dirt or hair, so cleaning is a cloth and thirty seconds rather than a wash cycle and a drying rack. That makes it a sensible choice for the part of the bathroom that gets dusty rather than soaked — under the basin, in front of a vanity, across a doorway. It also stays perfectly flat: no curling corners, no fraying edges, no flattened patch where everyone stands.

FAQ

Does it absorb water?
No. Water sits on the surface and you wipe it off. If you want somewhere to stand dripping out of the shower, keep an absorbent mat by the bath and use this one for the rest of the floor.

Will the print wear off where I walk?
The design is printed into a coated PVC leather surface built for daily foot traffic, so it does not rub away the way a print on fabric does. Keep it off hot radiators and out of direct sunlight for long periods and the colours stay warm.

See the rest of this size in large bath mats, or browse more designs like this in luxury bath mats.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1046/3733/3847/files/S5028beb069b44ec9b2fb8762bc475ec1f.webp?v=1790948425
