op-art-print-bath-mat
Op art print bath mat

A modern bath mat with a retro op art print

Three concentric shapes in heavy black and cream — an ellipse, an hourglass, a rounded rectangle — expanding outwards until they fill the whole mat, which itself has a wavy irregular outline rather than straight edges. It is unmistakably Sixties and completely at home in a modern bathroom. Underneath the graphics there are three working layers: a surface that pulls water through, a diatom foam core that spreads it out to evaporate, and a textured rubber sole.

Features

Size

45 x 100 cm (17.7 x 39.4 in)

Shape

Irregular wavy outline

Colours

Black and cream

Design

Printed concentric op art

Surface layer

Technical cloth, draws moisture straight through

Core

Rubber diatom foam — absorbs instantly, evaporates quickly

Sole

Textured anti-slip rubber

Chemicals

No substances of very high concern

Three layers doing three different jobs

Most mats are one material asked to do everything. Here the surface cloth is chosen for how fast it lets water through rather than how much it holds, the diatom foam underneath takes that water and spreads it across the full area so it evaporates instead of pooling, and the rubber sole grips the floor. That separation is why it can be thin, dry quickly and still take a proper soaking from someone stepping out of a shower.

An outline that fits awkward floors

At 45 x 100 cm it is long and narrow, which suits the strip of floor in front of a quadrant shower, a narrow bathroom or the gap between a bath and a vanity unit. The wavy edge is doing more than decoration — a mat without straight sides sits more comfortably against a curved shower tray than a rectangle, and it looks deliberate rather than squeezed in.

FAQ

Is it soft or firm?
Firm. This is a thin layered mat rather than a plush one — the comfort comes from a surface that is dry seconds after you step on it rather than from depth. It also means it slides under a bathroom door without catching.

How do I clean it?
Wipe or rinse the surface and leave it to dry flat; it is not a mat for the washing machine. Keep it away from heat, which hardens the rubber sole and can make the edges lift.

See more shapes like this in curved bath mats, or browse more in this colour in black bath mats.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1046/3733/3847/files/Scdf3e52a97dd435d8495a40e09cd6676r.webp?v=1790948425
