curved-checkered-bath-mat
Curved checkered bath mat

A curved checkered bath mat with a wavy cloud outline

Big blocks of black and cream in a loose check, except the squares are not quite squares — the ones at the edges have rounded ends, and the outline of the mat ripples instead of running straight. It is the sort of design that looks simple and takes a lot of getting right. The build underneath is the serious part: a surface that pulls water through, a diatom foam core that spreads it to evaporate, and a textured rubber sole.

Features

Size

45 x 100 cm (17.7 x 39.4 in)

Shape

Wavy cloud outline

Colours

Black and cream

Design

Printed oversized check with rounded cells

Surface layer

Technical cloth, draws moisture straight through

Core

Rubber diatom foam — absorbs instantly, evaporates quickly

Sole

Textured anti-slip rubber

Chemicals

No substances of very high concern

A check that is not a kitchen tablecloth

Scale is what separates the two. A small check reads as gingham and belongs on a picnic; blown up to blocks this size it reads as graphic design, and the rounded ends on the outer cells stop it feeling rigid. Black and cream is also the one colour pairing that works in literally any bathroom — it picks up black taps and frames, and it does not have to agree with your tiles.

The wavy edge is doing a job

Curved shower trays, round-fronted baths, and basins on legs: bathrooms have more curves in them than most rooms, and a hard rectangle fights all of them. An outline that ripples sits comfortably against a quadrant enclosure and makes the 45 x 100 cm footprint look chosen rather than squeezed into the gap. It is also the detail that makes people ask where the mat came from.

FAQ

Does it stay dry between showers?
That is what the diatom foam layer is for — it takes the water off the surface and spreads it across the whole mat so it evaporates rather than sitting in one wet patch. You step on it, the footprint fades, and it is ready for the next person.

Can I put it in the washing machine?
No. Wipe or rinse the surface and leave it to dry flat, and keep it away from heat — a hot wash or a radiator hardens the rubber sole and can lift the wavy edge.

See more shapes like this in curved bath mats, or browse more in this colour in black bath mats.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1046/3733/3847/files/S61b591d03f0148ce8f0655ad1004a700B.webp?v=1790948426
